What you do when you loose your Windows or operating system in your PC. First thing in your mind comes is to reinstall the operation system, But now I am telling you the simple way of recovering your files and folder via a Ubuntu live USB operating system.

An Ubuntu Live USB device allows you to take the Ubuntu Linux operating system with you anywhere! In addition, if you ever run into a problem where you cannot boot Windows (and cannot access your files), you can use an Ubuntu Live USB drive to boot your computer into a nice Linux GUI environment and recover your files. An entire operating system in a thumb-drive.
Its very easy to mount image on the USB.
The application is fairly simple. First, you select an ISO image or CD/DVD source. Next, you choose the thumb-drive that you want to install the ISO/CD/DVD image on. Finally, you can select the size of a persistence file (this stores your documents and settings on the USB drive even after you have shut-down the computer – highly recommended). There are various persistence file sizes from 128MB to 4096MB so that you can maximize the use of your thumb-drive capacity.

To use this tool you must have the .iso of UBUNTU or family of ubuntu.

An operating system’s file system structure is its most basic level of organization. Almost all of the ways an operating system interacts with its users, applications, and security model are dependent upon the way it stores its files on a storage device. It is crucial for a variety of reasons that users, as well as programs, be able to refer to a common guideline to know where to read and write files.

A file system can be seen in terms of two different logical categories of files:

* Shareable vs. unshareable files
* Variable vs. static files

If you want to go for the information about the active non-swap partitions.

/dev/hda1           12404M  2018.4M  10900M   8% /boot
/dev/hda5            19G   15G  2.7G  85% /opt

fs1:/home           18.9G  3.7G  14.7G  44% /.automount/fs1/root/home

What Is RTLinux?

RTLinux grew out of real-time research and open-source development started at New Mexico Tech more than a decade ago. Today, RTLinux technology is deployed in projects across a wide range of applications, including industrial control, instrumentation, communications and networking, and aerospace and defense.

Through the efforts of Wind River—which acquired FSMLabs in February 2007—and resources from the open-source community, RTLinux has evolved to address the needs of two distinct types of embedded Linux development projects:

Open RTLinux: For academic, research, and other open software projects that include real-time functionality on a self-supported free software basis. (See the Open RTLinux Patent License.)
Wind River Real-Time Core: For projects with stringent requirements for off-the-shelf, guaranteed real-time functionality in commercial-grade software, accompanied by professional support and services to meet pressing time-to-market goals

RTLinuxFree.com provides a mechanism for downloading, evaluating, and using RTLinux technology, subject to the terms and restrictions of the Open RTLinux Patent License. The license requires that all applications using the free RTLinux download be GPL licensed, and also requires that application source code be made publicly available on the Web. In exchange, Wind River provides royalty-free use of the patented RTLinux process.

Installation Guide for RTLinux:

RTLinux can be found here:

ftp://gd.tuwien.ac.at/pub/linux/rtlinux

http://www.rtlinuxfree.com/

The latest version is 3.2-pre2. But you can get 3.2-pre3 via CVS:

Open your terminal and paste one by one:

cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@canals.disca.upv.es:/var/cvs login
password: anoncvs
cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@canals.disca.upv.es:/var/cvs co rtlinux-3.2-pre3

Enjoy the Real Time Linux OS.
